A cure for poverty of the mind and the pocket
Subject: What successful people
do that you should start doing

A World Bank report I read recently stated that despite on-going poverty alleviation programs of national governments and international bodies, about 1 billion of the world’s population will still live in extreme poverty even in 2015.  Now if you ask me, that figure is very alarming!  “Poverty” which is mostly defined as an economic condition of lacking both money and basic necessities needed to successfully live, such as food, water, raiment, education, healthcare and shelter, is one word even the poor hates to hear. Although there are many working definitions of “poverty,” with considerable debate on how to best define the term, everybody has an idea what the word means and how ugly it appears. Lack of income security, economic stability and the predictability of man’s continued means to meet basic needs, all serve as absolute indicators of poverty. Poverty may therefore also be defined as the condition of lacking predictable and stable means of meeting basic life needs.

What can we get, if not what we are given?

Error Message…. how much?
What about lack of emotional stability and thinking capability? What about lack of imagination or creative ability? Well, whether it is lack of creative ability – maybe lack of ability to create real and sustainable wealth, or lack of income security, they are all part of “poverty” -- and poverty is what it is – POVERTY. Are some people who are employed, formally educated, have shelter, can afford food, water, raiment and healthcare, live in some other forms of poverty? Very possible! There is something called “poverty of the mind,” which is the grandfather and mother of all the other forms of poverty.

Who is infected?

If you have so far in life been unable to respond appropriately to any of your God-given abilities, you are living with a form of disability called “poverty”.
If you are a worker bee doing a job you do not like and can quit but won’t because you are not sure you can survive and succeed on your own, you are in poverty.
If you have borrowed money from your bank to pay for your wedding ceremony, you are living in poverty.
If you are repaying a loan taken to finance the purchase of a posh car, you are poor.
If you are in the habit of selling the most part of your time (your most valuable resource) to buy “job security,” you are living in extreme poverty.
If you are a “consumer of all and producer of none,” your poverty has reached a dangerous crescendo and must be treated as a medical emergency.

Sick in the head... Can't think. My world is small, I am stuck.

 Who is free?
Now if you will take time to thoroughly study and understand my definition and associated definitions of “poverty,” you will realize that a greater number of the world’s population than has been estimated by The World Bank, is living in either mild or extreme poverty.  In the Ancient Scripts Jesus was quoted as saying, “The poor will always be in your midst.” Maybe they will, but… I don’t want to be one of them or have them be with me. While “they” (poor people) are “in your midst,” there are many rich and wealthy people in our midst – and I think you should join us. Poor people and poverty have remained in your midst because; you live in a world where you have continued to think only poor thoughts and nothing more. Poverty is taking flight from our lives – those of us who are on our way to becoming wealthy – because we live in a different world – we live in a wealthy world where we constantly think rich thoughts; and that’s why there are many rich people in our midst and riches is also now within our reach. That’s right, we live in a “rich mindset” world and it will do you a world of good to enter our world where wealth is within reach.
Guess what I am doing? Well, if you stick around long enough, you will find out...

TO BE CONTINUED……

Until next time.

Your man,

- I. C. Clinton

  4. O Mr Clinton, thank you for starting this blog and for writing the post. I want to say that I feel helped by the insights you shared, particularly concerning ‘Meditation’ (written on your profile section). Before now I never got around to practice meditation, but I have started that now. When I read the part where you gave instances of people who are poor, I felt like you were talking to me at some point. I have been a ‘worker bee’ for some time now working a job I did not like and yet could not quit until recently. I really find your blog and ideas helpful and hope that more people will get to find it and read it. I have subscribed and can’t wait to read the continuation. May God grant you strength and more wisdom to write often. God bless you.
